The social movement in France against the pension reform could have consequences on the organization of the visit of King Charles of England from March 26 to 29, said Wednesday 22 March a source at Buckingham Palace.

"We are closely monitoring the situation and we are taking advice from the FCDO (Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office) and the French side," the source said. "There could be an impact on logistics."

"The program is still being developed with both parties," said one at the Elysee.

Musée d'Orsay, Palace of Versailles and vineyards

Charles III is expected for a state visit to France from 26 to 29 March. The program so far unveiled includes a visit to the Musée d'Orsay, a dinner at the Palace of Versailles, a ceremony at the Arc de Triomphe and an interview at the Élysée Palace.

The royal couple are also due to travel to the Bordeaux region to visit an organic vineyard and observe the damage caused by last year's wildfires.

Several voices in the opposition have called for the cancellation of this visit of Charles III because of the protest movement against the pension reform, which has grown since the government's use of 49.3 to pass the law without a vote.

Renewable strikes and blocking actions are organized in several sectors such as energy or transport and demonstrations take place daily to demand the withdrawal of the text. The inter-union called for a ninth day of national mobilization on Thursday.

"Unbelievable!", reacted the ecologist deputy Sandrine Rousseau on BFM TV. "We will have Emmanuel Macron, the republican monarch, who will receive Charles III, who will go down the Champs-Élysées, who will dine in Versailles while the people are demonstrating in the street."

"Of course, let him cancel this visit! (...) Something is happening in the country. Is the priority really to receive Charles III at Versailles?"
