President Zelensky of Ukraine visited Bakhmut, a stronghold in the eastern Donetsk region, where fierce fighting with the Russian side continues, and emphasized his stance of total resistance. On the other hand, there is a view that the Russian side is showing signs of being frustrated by the large-scale spring attacks launched in various places, including Bakhmut.

Ukraine's Emergency Agency announced on the 22nd that a five-story building was attacked by a drone in a town on the outskirts of the capital Kyiv.

According to local police, at least four people inside the building were killed and four are missing.

President Zelensky of Ukraine announced that he visited Bakhmut, a stronghold in the eastern Donetsk region, where fierce fighting with the Russian side continues, on the 5nd, the day after meeting with Prime Minister Kishida.

President Zelensky encouraged the soldiers fighting on the front lines, saying, "It is your historic mission to defend our land and recapture everything that belongs to Ukraine," and emphasized his willingness to fight back.

The British Ministry of Defence, which analyzes the war situation, said on the 22nd that "Ukrainian troops are in danger of being surrounded from the north and south" about Bakhmut.

"The Ukrainian army is likely to have launched a counteroffensive in the west and the pressure on supply routes has eased, and the Russian offensive may be losing momentum as some Russian units have been redeployed to other fronts," he said.

Prior to this, the Institute for War Studies, an American think tank, also pointed out that "large-scale attacks by the Russian military in the spring may be approaching their peak," and expressed the view that the large-scale attacks launched by the Russian side in various parts of Ukraine are showing signs of relief.
