They call it "Folkhemsel" and the proposal is that the state buys up a large proportion of the electricity that households are expected to consume, and then auctions it off on long-term contracts to electricity companies that want to sell the electricity cheapest.

According to the Social Democrats, this could give an electricity price of 40 cents per kilowatt hour. Lower than what many electricity companies offer their customers right now. They also believe that the long-term approach in combination with the state's credibility will lead to more actors daring to invest in new electricity production.
