The fasting month of Ramadan is a holiday that means a lot to Fatime Noor, but with the rising prices, she thinks twice about shopping for groceries.

"I used to be able to buy several tomatoes, now I only buy one," she says.

In the clip, you hear what Fatime can't do without during Ramadan.

Choosing chicken over more expensive meat

SVT Uppsala has been in contact with several traders before the holiday. At ICA Supermarket in Sävja, they are investing in buying, among other things, dates, yogurt and parsley for the holiday.

"That's how we highlight the goods, so that they can be seen," says Roberto Logiodice, store manager.

Several stores notice that customers choose the cheaper alternatives – at City Gross in Gränby, chicken is rewarded when it comes to meat.

At Willys in Gottsunda, lamb, chicken and rice are what are consumed the most before Ramadan.

"We haven't noticed a huge difference from usual, just that larger volumes of the goods are used," says Jonas Gelin, store manager.
