A week ago, the news came: Ellen's school was one of the elementary schools that might be closed down. Tomorrow, Thursday, the decision will be made.

The explanation is that the premises cost more when rents rise. At the same time, the forecasts show that the children in each grade will be fewer.

Linköping schools can be closed

The proposal from the officials is therefore to close some schools so that the money can go to educators instead of to premises costs.

But parents and students at the affected schools are critical. They don't think the politicians have listened to the children. Therefore, they have submitted a letter to the municipality stating that the municipality should conduct a new child impact assessment.

In the video, Ellen Kjellberg, who attends Fredriksbergsskolan in Linköping, tells us what consequences the decision to close the school would have for her.
