Moscow, 3 Mar (ZXS) -- On 21 March local time, Chinese President Xi Jinping met with reporters after talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin in the Moscow Kremlin.
Xi Jinping pointed out that this is my second visit to Moscow after more than three years, and it is also my first foreign visit and state visit to Russia since I was re-elected as President of China. Over the past 3 years, I have established close relations with President Putin, maintained strategic communication, and promoted fruitful results in strategic cooperation between the two countries.
Just now, I held frank, friendly and fruitful talks with President Putin, exchanged in-depth views on bilateral relations and major international and regional issues of common concern, and reached many new important consensuses. We signed and issued the Joint Statement of China and Russia on Deepening the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership of Coordination in the New Era and the Joint Statement on the Development Plan for Key Directions of China-Russia Economic Cooperation until 2030, making plans and arrangements for the development of bilateral relations and cooperation in various fields in the next stage.
Xi Jinping stressed that together with President Putin, I reviewed the achievements of the development of bilateral relations over the past 10 years and agreed that the relations between the two countries go far beyond the bilateral scope and are of vital importance to the world pattern and the future and destiny of mankind. The two sides will promote exchanges and cooperation in various fields in accordance with the principle of good-neighborliness, friendship and win-win cooperation. Under the new historical conditions, the two sides will view and grasp China-Russia relations from a broad and long-term perspective and make greater contributions to the cause of human progress.
Xi Jinping pointed out that since last year, China-Russia all-round pragmatic cooperation has achieved fruitful results, and the characteristics of basic stability, strong complementarity and full resilience have continued to appear. Compared with 10 years ago, the bilateral trade volume between China and Russia increased by 116%, which not only effectively consolidated the material foundation of bilateral relations, but also provided important impetus for the respective economic and social development of the two countries. This achievement has not come easily.
President Putin and I reached a consensus that the two sides should strengthen overall design and top-level planning, expand trade in energy, resources and mechanical and electrical products, enhance the resilience of the industrial chain and supply chain of the two sides, expand cooperation in information technology, digital economy, agriculture, service trade and other fields, promote the complementary and synchronous development of traditional trade and cooperation in emerging fields, and further smooth cross-border logistics and transportation.
We agreed that the two sides should continue to consolidate the cornerstone of people-to-people exchanges. Promote the expansion of counterpart exchanges between sister provinces, states and cities of the two countries, successfully hold the China-Russia Sports Exchange Year, and create convenient conditions for promoting personnel exchanges between the two countries.
The two sides pointed out that as permanent members of the UN Security Council, China and Russia will continue to work with the international community to firmly uphold the basic norms governing international relations based on the purposes and principles of the UN Charter. Strengthen cooperation within international multilateral frameworks such as the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, BRICS Cooperation Mechanism, and the G20, practice true multilateralism, promote post-pandemic economic recovery, strengthen constructive forces for building a multipolar world pattern and improving the global governance system, make more contributions to maintaining global food security, energy security, and the stability of industrial chains and supply chains, and jointly promote the construction of a community with a shared future for mankind.
Xi Jinping stressed that last month, China issued the document "China's Position on the Political Settlement of the Ukrainian Crisis". On the issue of the Ukraine crisis, China has always followed the purposes and principles of the UN Charter, adhered to an objective and impartial position, actively urged peace and talks, decided its position on the merits of the matter itself, and always stood firmly on the side of peace, dialogue and the right side of history.
I look forward to continuing to maintain close communication with President Putin through various means and jointly lead the stability and long-term development of China-Russia relations. (End)
