Jan and Ulla Sydberg have moved into their brand new condominium just a few years ago. They were horrified when they received the consultation document and saw that LKAB was considering driving heavy transports completely close to the newly built residential area.
"Be too eager with this"
The blue lines on the map could even be interpreted as meaning that the road would be drawn straight through the apartment buildings.
"They were probably too eager to send this out. Otherwise, you would never worry about several tenant-owner associations in this way, says Ulla Sydberg.
Scrapped the plan after the meeting
LKAB's Press Officer Anders Lindberg has no explanation for why the road was pulled through the area. At the consultation meeting, however, the mining company took on board the views of the residents, called an internal meeting and erased the road options throughout the area the very same evening.
However, Jan and Ulla Sydberg believe that LKAB should have been able to predict the reactions even before the consultation meeting.
