It was in May 2020 that the first suspicions came to light and when police seized the man's phone in another case, pictures of undressed children were discovered.

Then followed extensive detective work to identify who the children were – including by allowing parents and school staff to come to the police headquarters to look through the material.

The man was charged on suspicion of 15 counts of child pornography offenses, four counts of exploitation of children for sexual posing, aggravated child pornography offenses, as well as offensive photography and sexual harassment. The suspicions concerned a total of 18 children at the comprehensive school in Uppsala municipality where he then worked as a substitute teacher.

The trial started in February, nearly three years after the suspicions arose.

SVT is looking for the suspect's defense attorney.
