Pension reform: the National Rally hopes to reap the fruits of the anger of the French

The cross-party motion was only nine votes short of passage on Monday. As for the one tabled by the National Rally (RN), it obtained 94 votes, including six votes from other groups. And this is not the only gain made by Marine Le Pen in this sequence.

Never has a motion of censure tabled by the National Rally obtained so many votes outside the RN. A small victory for the vice-president of the Assembly Sébastien Chenu: "I think that everyone has clearly perceived the honesty of our approach, the desire to bring down this government and this pension reform.

But the National Rally has mostly garnered for later. With new faces in front of the cameras, Laure Lavalette or Thomas Ménager. No invective, the RN plays the card of seriousness. Even in the ranks of the majority, it is recognized. "They are quite respectful of institutions," says Bruno Millienne, MP for Modem. Even if we fight them foot to foot, they do things, we will say, institutionally. We are terribly concerned about that.

The majority is worried about 2027 because this is indeed the objective for the National Rally: the next presidential election. Withdrawn in the hemicycle, Marine Le Pen is preparing for it and does not hide it. "I think that the whole of this hemicycle from the far left to the new majority, including Les Républicains, have become aware that the real alternation is the National Rally and that in reality, after Emmanuel Macron, it will be us. The question is not who wins immediately, summarizes a National Rally executive, but rather who will be the receptacle of the anger aroused by this reform.
