After a gruelling sequence for the parliamentarians of the majority, deputies and senators of the presidential camp were received by Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne on Tuesday morning. And are expected at the Elysee Palace in the evening where they will be received by President Emmanuel Macron.

ANALYSIS

Cuddle therapy sequence this Tuesday for Macronist parliamentarians. At the end of the particularly trying sequence of the pension reform, the deputies and senators of the majority are expected in the evening at the Élysée where Emmanuel Macron awaits them. In the morning, they had already been received by Elisabeth Borne. For the head of state, it is a question of reuniting his troops in a particularly tense political context.

"When you win a vote, it's a victory"

Especially since a good part of the deputies invited this Tuesday evening were not in favor of the use of 49.3 and many would have preferred to go through the vote, even if the reform was not adopted. In the evening, Emmanuel Macron will therefore conclude a marathon at the Elysée Palace, he who had already received the Prime Minister in the morning, as well as several ministers of weight, the presidents of the parliamentary groups and the bosses of the member parties of the presidential majority. And his message promises to be substantially identical to that sent at the beginning of the day.

With first of all an observation: "We have not succeeded in sharing the merits of this reform," observes the head of state in a small committee, while calling for a "parliamentary refoundation". To remobilize his deputies and senators, Emmanuel Macron could well try to convince them that the mission is still accomplished. "When you win a vote, it's a victory, not a defeat," he said. Still, the sequence around this pension reform has left traces as never before in the majority. Not sure that the president's words will be enough to erase them.
