There have been large visitor flows in Vålådalen Nature Reserve in recent years. During the bare ground season, visitor pressure has been so high that nature has suffered great damage, between 2014 and 2018 the number of visitors to the nature reserve increased fivefold.

The County Administrative Board of Jämtland is now planning restrictions and zoning in the area. In a report presented last autumn, the County Administrative Board proposed that zoning be introduced in Vålådalen, i.e. that the nature reserve be divided into different areas – zones – with different rules.

Decision expected shortly

In the county administrative board's proposal, it is planned to divide Vålådalen nature reserve into untouched zone, low active zone, active zone, high active zone and facility zone. This is to meet the needs of both people and nature. Shortly, the county administrative board is expected to make a decision on this issue of the nature reserve's future.
