Recently, the Swedish Lifesaving Society issued a proposal for a minimum age for children living alone at the country's bathing facilities. For the sake of simplicity, 12 years should apply, the organization thinks. Paradiset's experience pool in Örnsköldsvik is based on the Swedish Consumer Agency's recommendations for children visiting bathing facilities.

"We have a policy that you should be twelve years old or able to swim. That's something we ask about at the front desk. To be counted as a swimmer, you must be able to swim 200 meters, which parents must certify, says David Berglund.

Swimming skills more important than age

David thinks that the Swedish Lifesaving Society's proposal is good in general. However, he does not want to see a specific age limit. Instead, swimming skills should trump age.

"If it's a ten-year-old who can swim as far as he wants, maybe they can visit us anyway.
