In the past year, the need for covid rehab in Region Norrbotten has decreased sharply, while the need for rehab in other patient groups is increasing. So says Stefan Stridsman, operations manager for Neurocenter, which is responsible for rehabilitation.

He believes that one indicator of this is that the number of referrals from primary care has decreased.

Not agreeing with the patient

But the Swedish Covid Association and several sufferers who SVT has talked to think that the measurement tool is bad. They believe that you should not start from the referrals because it can be difficult for a patient to get one to rehab.

Stefan Stridsman disagrees.

"It's the best tool we have for measuring flows. Patients also have the opportunity to submit their own care requests – i.e. their own referrals," he says.

Hear the boss about the closure

Several have been too ill to carry out the rehabilitation – what happens to them?

"They will have the opportunity to seek rehabilitation through their health centre and have their needs met there.
