Representatives of the government, the Riksbank, the Swedish Financial Supervisory Authority and the Swedish National Debt Office will attend the meeting, the government writes on its website. According to the press release, the parties will discuss "the risk picture and the stability situation in light of recent events in the banking markets in the US and Europe".

Just over a week ago, three U.S. banks crashed in just a few days, and on Sunday, crisis-hit Swiss major bank Credit Suisse was bailed out when Switzerland's largest bank UBS bought up its rival for close to 34 billion Swedish crowns.

"Exchange experiences"

The Financial Stability Council is to meet with the aim of "jointly exchanging experiences on the basis of these events".

"After the meeting, Minister of Finance Niklas Wykman will inform the Finance Committee about the current situation in the financial markets," the press release said.
