Cuca Gamarra, secretary general of the PP and spokesperson in Congress, will assume tomorrow with apparent tranquility the pressure to counteract the 'collateral effects' of the motion of censure of Vox against Pedro Sánchez. Gamarra has not needed to lock himself up to prepare his speech in the hours before the debate but, on the contrary, has preferred to act as 'godmother' in the presentation of the new headquarters of the Basque PP in Bilbao to reinforce the growth in the polls that the polls predict. "Against a Frankenstein government the only motion of censure is that of the ballot boxes," warned the 'number two' of Feijóo.
Gamarra intends to take advantage as an opportunity for the PP the motion of censure promoted by Vox with Ramón Tamames as a candidate. The spokeswoman in Congress has described Abascal's initiative as a "propaganda operation," a "marketing campaign" and "pure electoralism." But he has justified the abstention against the opposite vote used by the PP in the previous motion of censure for the "change of political scenario" that, among other circumstances, will make Alberto Núñez Feijóo unable to intervene. "Our position does not like either Vox or Pedro Sánchez," Gamarra congratulated herself accompanied by the leadership of the Basque PP with Carlos Iturgaiz at the front.
Gamarra wanted to value that the PP is now "a united party with clear ideas", as values against Vox but also before a PSOE that begins to suffer internal tensions before the examination of the polls after the pacts of Pedro Sánchez with Podemos and the Catalan independentists and EH Bildu. A "distancing with the sanchismo" of 'barons' such as García Page, Javier Lamban, Ximo Puig and even Francina Armengol that, according to Gamarra, shows the bad electoral prospects for the PSOE in the elections of the month of May, the first round of the general elections to be held at the end of 2023.
Gamarra has relativized the concern that in the environment of former president José María Aznar is found about the short distance between the PP and the PSOE in the polls. "The alternative [to Sánchez] will come from the polls, from a social majority and his first response will be on May 28," insisted Gamarra who in his visit to Bilbao has made the PNV co-responsible for the management of the PSOE. "Sánchez and Urkullu look alike, need and protect each other," he has already warned in electoral key before the close appointment with the polls in the regional and municipal elections in the Basque Country.
