• Pontevedra Set fire to about thirty cars in Tui

The Civil Guard has arrested a woman of about 50 years, neighbor of Tui (Pontevedra), as alleged responsible for the burning of dozens of cars in the early hours of Monday in the same Galician town.

As confirmed to Efe sources of the armed institute, the woman was arrested in the early afternoon and is in the premises of the Civil Guard in Tui, where she is being interrogated before going to court, which will probably happen between today and tomorrow.

The images of the cameras at the scene, the old town of the city, have been fundamental in the investigations of the Civil Guard, which tries to clear the motivation of the woman behind this procedure that has shocked all Tui.

The alarm went off at 3:45 in the morning, when emergency services began receiving calls because several vehicles were burning in the historic center of the city.

The first call that the 112 received was to warn that three cars were burning in the Plaza de la Armada, but the calls began to happen from different points of the old town describing similar scenarios.

Finally, the affected cars were located in five different points of the city, specifically in the areas enabled to park in the Plaza de la Armada and in the streets Tide, Ordoñez, Calvo Sotelo and Piñeiro.

Of the affected cars, 21 were completely burned, and five others have significant damage.

In addition, the façade of a house against which a still burning car hit was also affected.

The situation, according to 112, required a reinforced response, so means and resources were mobilized both on one side and the other of the "line", border, with Portugal.

Thus, from Portugal, the Firefighters of Valença attended, while, from Galicia, the Firefighters of Baixo Miño and Ponteareas, the members of the GES of Mos and the Civil Protection volunteers of Tui, Salceda and Tomiño were mobilized.

The mayor of the town, Enrique Cabaleiro, has described this Monday as "very serious criminal action" what happened this morning in Tui.
