He said this in an article for RIA Novosti and Rossiyskaya Gazeta.

"China, on the basis of the very essence of what is happening, invariably takes an objective and impartial position, makes active efforts to promote reconciliation and peace negotiations," the politician stressed.

Xi Jinping added that he considers the fundamental principles of the settlement to be the need to comply with the purposes and principles of the UN Charter, respect the security concerns of other countries, support efforts aimed at a peaceful settlement of the crisis, and so on.

According to the Chinese leader, the previously published document on China's position on a political settlement maximally reflects the unity of views of the world community on overcoming the crisis.

On February 24, the Chinese Foreign Ministry published proposals for resolving the situation in Ukraine.

The plan consists of 12 points. It calls for peace talks and a ceasefire. The Chinese side also opposes unilateral sanctions, which create only new problems.

Adviser to the office of the Ukrainian president Andriy Yermak said that Kiev does not accept proposals for a ceasefire.

At the same time, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said that there are "positive elements" in China's plan to resolve the Ukrainian conflict.
