The compulsory education is called the "Sweden course" and must be more extensive than the information currently offered.

The issue is considered important, not least for liberal party leader Johan Pehrson, who is also minister of labor and integration:

"We believe that this is absolutely crucial for integration. If people are to have a chance in Sweden, and we want that, then you have to understand how Sweden works.

According to Ekot, the government parties and the Sweden Democrats now agree to investigate how a course in social studies for new arrivals should be designed. And it is precisely compulsory that is important, says Johan Pehrson at the Liberals' national meeting in Linköping.

"It's a signal that 'welcome to Sweden, here are the rules, here we go'.
