While they had taken only one point in the last three days of Ligue 1, Philippe Clement's men have therefore recovered in the direction of march and remain in the race for the podium. While waiting for the Reims-OM match on Sunday evening, ASM is indeed 4th, two lengths from Marseille and three from Lens.

To bring back these three points from Corsica, the Monegasque coach had for once bet on the duo Wissam Ben Yedder - Breel Embolo, whom he usually balks to line up together.

The two strikers did not show a huge complementarity but it was Ben Yedder who opened the scoring, shortly before the half hour of play.

On a perfectly struck free-kick by Caio Henrique, Guillermo Maripan, whose return did good for the ASM defence, hit his head. Benjamin Leroy made a nice save but Ben Yedder had followed well to score his 17th goal of the season in the league (1-0, 27th).

In the second half, the exclusion of Cyrille Bayala in the 53rd minute for a sole on Caio Henrique and, shortly after, the exit on injury of Youssef Belaïli, facilitated the task of Monaco.

But the Principality team never seemed completely serene, as proved by the big opportunity missed by Riad Nouri after a big mistake by Ruben Aguilar.

At the end of the match, while Ben Yedder was quite unhappy, ASM still took shelter thanks to a goal by Krépin Diatta after a good collective action (2-0, 84th).

For Ajaccio, the situation is even more complicated. Beaten six times in the last seven days, with only two goals scored, in the success against Troyes (2-1), the Corsicans remain 18th and relegated.
