In the autumn of 2022, IVO began inspections in all of Sweden's municipalities that provide special housing for the elderly, SÄBO, under municipal auspices. It concerns 283 of Sweden's 290 municipalities.

The level of competence, documentation, staff continuity, medication management and end-of-life care have been reviewed.

It has shown, among other things, that staff who make medical assessments do not have sufficient competence for the task and that the Swedish language is not sufficiently mastered.

In addition, end-of-life care is not carried out in accordance with current regulations and medication management is not considered patient-safe.

IVO now requires an account of how the deficiencies are to be remedied from the care committee in Hylte municipality no later than April 14.

"We've just got the report in our hands this week, so now we'll have to look at it and see what it is we're going to fix. We take this to heart to see what we can do and improve," says Lena Borg, head of the quality unit at the care office in Hylte municipality.
