The police of the city of Houston, Texas, published a video documented by surveillance cameras of an assault and robbery incident against a woman who was later paralyzed as a result of the force of the assault.

Houston police asked followers on their social media accounts to help identify the robber in the video, who paralyzed 44-year-old Nyong Trung.

According to a statement published by the police on March 13, the incident dates back to February <>, when Trung was walking in front of a shopping center in the city when the assailant approached her and tried to steal a cash envelope she was carrying.

Trung fell to the ground and scattered some of her belongings, so the thief took the envelope while they fled, before realizing that he had taken the wrong envelope, to turn back, beat her, carry her, and then drop her to the ground forcefully, steal money and flee.

Police believe the suspect was watching his victim, alone or with a group of collaborators, after the victim withdrew $4300,<> from Bank of America the same day and was planning to visit her family in Vietnam.

US media confirmed that Trung suffered a serious injury to her spine, causing her paralysis.

Social media users reacted to the painful news, and a number of them posted pictures of the Vietnamese woman, a mother of 3 children.

Respondents to the event noted that the assault left her unable to walk, and she would spend the rest of her life in a wheelchair and could not even go to the bathroom without assistance.
