The bathhouse in Grums is worn out and there were plans to renovate it or build a new one. But the municipality will instead invest in building a school and a sports hall. It has sparked a wave of protests among local residents. But according to municipal councillor Malin Hagström (S), the municipality has never decided that they would build a new bathhouse.
"It's also not a decision to withdraw," she says.
However, Karlstad Municipality is planning to build a bathhouse in Vålberg that Grum residents will also be able to use. For example, schoolchildren from Grum municipality will be bussed there. But Idun Izzah Hermansson, who started the petition "We want to keep our bathhouse in Grums" is critical.
"I think all parts should be there and to ignore one bathhouse to build the other is not right," she says.
