• Patio Global The controversial 'red card' to Lineker for comparing the 'Tories' with Nazi Germany

Former soccer player Gary Lineker will present his well-known sports program again next weekend after reaching an agreement with the BBC, after he was removed from the screen for his tweets critical of the government's immigration plan.

Lineker, former captain of the England National Team and the BBC's highest-paid presenter, has reached an agreement with management, after his absence forced public television to virtually paralyze its programming last weekend.

"

Gary is an important element of the BBC

and I know how much the BBC counts on him, and I am delighted that he will present our broadcast next weekend," BBC director-general Tim Davie said in a statement.

With a reputation for not biting his tongue, Lineker was very critical of the new Immigration Law of the Government of Rishi Sunak, which wants to abolish the right to asylum for anyone who crosses the English Channel by boat.

"We take in fewer refugees than most European countries," wrote the famous presenter, who called the measure "immensely cruel, directed at the most vulnerable."
