Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanaani said that the agreement to resume diplomatic relations with Saudi Arabia "will have positive effects" on Tehran's relations with the countries of the region.

Kanani said, in a press conference, that the Iranian-Saudi agreement will have "other positive regional" effects, including relations between Iran and other countries, according to what was reported by the local Tasnim news agency.

He added that diplomacy “has good results,” noting that the agreement between Iran and Saudi Arabia “proved the efficiency of diplomatic solutions to any misunderstanding,” noting that Iran and Saudi Arabia “agreed to hold a new round of negotiations at a higher level than the previous talks, which resulted in a rapprochement agreement.” in Beijing."

In the context, Kanani announced the existence of arrangements underway to hold a meeting between Iran's foreign ministers, Hussein Amir Abdullahian, and his Saudi counterpart, Faisal bin Farhan.

In a related development, the Iranian Foreign Ministry said that it hopes that the Iranian-Saudi agreement will have positive results on the Yemeni crisis, noting that Minister Abdullahian promised the Secretary-General of the United Nations to host talks to end the crisis in Yemen.

And the Saudi Foreign Minister, Prince Faisal bin Farhan, said - in press statements today, Monday - that reaching an agreement between Riyadh and Tehran that leads to the resumption of political relations does not mean reaching a solution to all outstanding differences between the two countries.

He added that he is looking forward to meeting Iran's foreign minister soon based on what was agreed upon, stressing that work will be done to resume diplomatic relations during the next two months.

Earlier on Sunday, the Iranian foreign minister described the talks with Saudi Arabia as complex and difficult, but the important thing is that they led to a clear result, after an agreement between the two countries under Chinese auspices.

Abdullahian stressed that the Iranian-Saudi agreement to reactivate diplomatic relations is not directed against any country, and said that the agreement between Iran and Saudi Arabia serves the interests of the two countries and is in the interest of the countries of the region.

And last Friday, Saudi Arabia and Iran announced the resumption of diplomatic relations between them and the reopening of the two embassies within two months, following Chinese-sponsored talks in Beijing, according to a joint statement of the three countries.

This agreement came after Beijing hosted - from the sixth to the tenth of March this year - Saudi-Iranian talks "in response to an initiative by Chinese President Xi Jinping, and in agreement with the leaderships of the Kingdom and the Iranian Republic and their desire to resolve differences," according to the tripartite statement.
