Chinanews.com, March 12 (Xinhua) According to the Greek "China Greek Times", the Greek Aviation Workers' Association issued a statement a few days ago, saying that the Greek air transport industry lacks a national regulatory mechanism and there are major safety hazards.

According to reports, in the statement, the Greek Aviation Workers Association expressed deep sympathy for the families of the victims of the Tempe train collision accident, and pointed out that the current safety policy of the Greek aviation sector is a huge hidden danger, and its current situation is no different from that of the railway sector.

The association believes that at present, the Greek air transport industry lacks a systematic national regulatory mechanism. The Greek Civil Aviation Authority only performs monitoring tasks remotely, and does not implement them in each airport, failing to effectively perform its due regulatory functions.

According to the report, in the face of this situation, employees in the Greek air transport industry have begun to appeal to the Greek State Council since October 2022. Up to now, at least 15 complaint letters and research reports have been delivered to the management of the Civil Aviation Administration, Minister of Transport, etc.

The Hellenic Aviation Workers Association stated that the most urgent task is to make the work of the Greek Civil Aviation Authority effective, implement its supervision scope to each airport instead of just adopting remote supervision, and promote the National Aviation Administration of each airport to join the supervision, and effectively improve the Greek air transport National regulatory mechanisms for the industry.
