The occupation forces killed 3 Palestinians and arrested a fourth during an armed clash that took place near the Surra military checkpoint, southwest of Nablus, in the West Bank.

Today, Sunday, the Palestinian Ministry of Health announced the death of the three Palestinians, and said in a statement that the Public Authority for Civil Affairs (the official contact with Israel) informed it of the death of 3 citizens after the occupation opened fire on them near Nablus, while Palestine TV (governmental) reported that the Israeli army targeted A white Palestinian vehicle at a military checkpoint near the city of Nablus.

The Israeli occupation army said in a military statement that a force from the Golani Brigade opened fire on a group of gunmen, killing 3 and arresting the fourth, after he turned himself in.

The statement added that his forces found weapons and ammunition that were in the possession of the militants.

Army spokesman Avichai Adraee said - in a statement - that last night, Palestinian gunmen opened fire at a military force that was inside a military site at the Jit junction near the city of Nablus.

Since the beginning of 2023, the frequency of Israeli incursions into the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, has increased significantly, and Palestinians mostly respond to them with individual operations.

A comprehensive strike took place in the city of Nablus, mourning the souls of the three martyrs who were shot dead by the Israeli occupation forces at dawn today, Sunday.

Netanyahu postpones the legalization of a settlement outpost

On the other hand, Israeli sources said that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu decided to postpone his decision to evacuate the village of Al-Khan Al-Ahmar and to legalize the "Avitar" settlement outpost on Jabal Sabih in the Bita area, south of Nablus, until after the holy month of Ramadan.

The sources added that Netanyahu made the decision, fearing that it would lead to an explosion of the situation with the Palestinians on a large scale with unimaginable consequences, and he also wanted to reduce international pressure on him.

The sources pointed out that the legalization of the illegal "Avitar" outpost will disturb the Americans, because Tel Aviv previously pledged not to promote the construction of new settlements in the West Bank.

And the "Avitar" settlement outpost was established in May 2021 in the middle of 3 Palestinian villages near the city of Nablus in the northern West Bank, where approximately 50 Israeli families live.

Last February, a meeting held in the city of Aqaba in southern Jordan between the Palestinian and Israeli sides, in the presence of representatives of the United States, Jordan and Egypt, concluded an agreement to stop unilateral measures for specific months, including stopping the promotion of settlement.

The “outposts” are small random settlements that are built without the approval of the Israeli government. The “outposts” are different from the dozens of large settlements that were built on Palestinian lands, and more than 600,000 settlers now live in them.

As for Al-Khan Al-Ahmar (East Jerusalem), it is a Bedouin residential community that Israel claims is located on “state lands,” and says that it was “built without a permit,” which the residents deny.

About 190 Palestinians from the Jahalin Bedouin clan have lived in the community since the early 1950s, after they were expelled from the Negev by Israel in 1948.
