Two years ago, Skåne got its first wolf pack in modern times when a pair of wolves settled at Linderödsåsen in north-eastern Skåne.

The County Administrative Board has since concluded that two more districts may have been formed – one in Central Skåne and one in Söderåsen.

However, these are not confirmed areas.

In addition to the territorial wolves, migrating wolves move at regular intervals in Skåne - wolves that have left their territories in, for example, Östergötland or Värmland to try to find a partner.

10-15 wolves in Skåne

The County Administrative Board estimates that there are 10-15 wolves in Skåne right now, according to wildlife officer David Börjesson.

But the risk or chance isn't so great that you'll meet a wolf, is it?

- No, if you take it at the individual level, it is a small risk.

But if you include the entire population in Skåne, the risk increases.

Today, it is common for someone to come across or see a wolf every week, says Lasse Persson, chairman of the Skåne Hunters' Association.

David Börjesson at the county board underlines the importance of keeping your dog leashed.

- So that the dog doesn't run away with the wolf behind.

The wolf can be very interested in your dog, says David Börjesson.

So what should you do if you meet a wolf?

In the video above, Lasse Persson from the Skåne Hunters Association gives his tips.
