Waszczykowski, referring to some "recently released data", said that China allegedly "has intentions" to supply Russia with lethal weapons.

If such a scenario is implemented, according to the deputy, the conflict in Ukraine may take on a long-term character.

“It is assumed that while China was not ready to send military equipment to Russia because of concerns about the sanctions imposed against Russia,” the parliamentarian specified.

However, “in an attempt to circumvent sanctions,” China may decide to use Belarus as an intermediary to send arms to Russia, Waszczykowski admitted, recalling that President of the Republic Alexander Lukashenko recently paid a visit to China.

The trip, in his opinion, could be related to the issue of appropriate supplies.

Against this background, the deputy expressed the opinion that the extension to Belarus of the scope of the sanctions currently in force against Russia "would have a preventive effect in preventing China from participating in the conflict as an equipment base for Russia."

So, Waszczykowski asked Borrell if he supported the introduction of "the same sanctions against Belarus that were imposed against Russia."

Director of the Institute for the Study of Contemporary Politics Anton Orlov, in an interview with RT, expressed the opinion that Western politicians make such statements "not from a great mind."

“The Polish politician does not understand the Russian and Belarusian mentality at all.

The proposed restrictions will only unite the Russian and Belarusian peoples even more ... But if we return to the ground, I don’t think that the introduction of these sanctions is realistic.

The fact is that Belarus is not a party to the conflict, so it is unlikely that the fate of our country awaits it ... There are enough hot heads in the European Parliament, but there are also many sane politicians, ”the expert believes.

According to Orlov, the European deputies are unlikely to support the initiative of the parliamentarian from Poland.

“I would venture to suggest that it is aimed more at the Polish audience and will not find a response in the hearts of MEPs.

It is also possible that Mr. Waszczykowski is only fulfilling the order of the United States, once again adding fuel to the fire of the Russian-Ukrainian confrontation, ”concluded the interlocutor of RT.

Earlier, the head of the US House of Representatives Committee on Foreign Affairs, Michael McCall, said that, according to him, China is considering the possibility of supplying Russia with 100 drones.

Chinese Foreign Minister Qin Gang stressed that Beijing does not supply weapons to any of the parties to the conflict in Ukraine.

Andrey Kelin, the Russian ambassador to the UK, confirmed this, noting that Moscow has enough resources in this regard.

In early February, it was reported that almost 13.7 thousand restrictive measures were in effect against Russia - more than against Iran, Syria, North Korea, Belarus, Venezuela, Myanmar and Cuba combined.
