China News Agency, Beijing, March 10 (Reporter Ma Furong) According to public data, there are currently more than 2,000 young Taiwanese scholars teaching in mainland universities.

How to bring in and retain Taiwanese teachers?

During the two sessions of the country, a number of representatives made suggestions.

Since 2014, Hubei University of Economics has successively introduced nearly 60 full-time Taiwanese teachers.

Among them, more than 20 were awarded senior professional titles, some were awarded the "Hubei Youth May 4th Medal", some were selected into the "Chutian Scholars" program of Hubei Province, and some were approved for the "National Social Science Fund Project".

According to Fang Jie, member of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and president of Hubei University of Economics, the school has established a set of talent service management system for Taiwanese teachers.

For example, in terms of work, we are given the autonomy to choose majors, tailor-made teaching and research platforms for them, and opened green channels for professional title evaluation.

In terms of life, in addition to the basic salary, scientific research start-up fees, transportation subsidies, medical subsidies, and high-level scientific research achievement awards are given, and teachers’ apartments that can be “checked in” are also provided.

"Taiwanese teachers bring their strengths into play, bring fresh teaching concepts to colleges and universities, and become witnesses and witnesses of cross-strait integration and development." Fang Jie suggested that set up research topics around local construction and business innovation, organize Taiwanese teachers to participate, and enrich their Teaching, research and scientific research results; supporting universities and scientific research institutions to build a number of cooperative school-running projects and subject laboratories; building a platform for displaying the achievements of Taiwanese teachers to help them connect with social project projects.

She also suggested that relying on the existing demonstration sites for work with Taiwan in various provinces and cities, we should build a talent training center and a cultural and sports activity center in Taiwan.

Hubei currently has more than 130 Taiwanese teachers.

As the full-time deputy chairman of the Hubei Provincial Committee of the Taiwan League, Liu Jiangdong, a deputy to the National People's Congress, often visits universities and colleges to visit Taiwanese teachers to help solve difficulties.

Combined with the research and understanding, Liu Jiangdong suggested that further implement the policies and measures of equal treatment in detail to provide convenience for Taiwanese teachers to buy houses, medical treatment, and children's education with loans; pay attention to scientific research and academic achievements, and provide more support for the career development of Taiwanese teachers.
