On the 10th, the government will decide on the medical system after shifting the position of the new corona under the Infectious Disease Law to 5.

The pillars of this system include having patients bear the cost of free examinations and outpatient care, and accepting patients at a wide range of medical institutions.

The government has been coordinating with the Japan Medical Association and the National Governors' Association regarding the burden of medical expenses and the medical system after the position of the novel coronavirus under the Infectious Diseases Act was moved to Category 5 on May 8. I put together a proposal.

According to this, among the medical expenses that are currently covered by public funds and free of charge at the counter, the cost of testing and outpatient treatment after being found to be positive will be paid by the patient.

On the other hand, in order to avoid a sudden increase in the burden, we will continue to make expensive medicines free of charge and establish measures to reduce hospitalization costs by up to 20,000 yen per month.

The outpatient medical treatment system aims to have about 64,000 medical institutions nationwide, keeping in mind the seasonal influenza system, in order to have patients accepted by a wider range of medical institutions than now.

In addition, medical fees paid to medical institutions will reduce the special measures that were added at the time of hospitalization.

The government will open a new corona countermeasures headquarters on a rotating basis on the 10th and decide on this plan.
