In Västerbotten's 15 municipalities, there are only four women in charge.

That's how it looked even after the last election.

Despite the fact that many parties work actively with the diversity issue, it seems difficult to land 50 percent women and 50 percent men in the top positions.

After the autumn elections, Robertsfors had for the first time a woman as chairman of the municipal board, the social democrat Petra Andersin.

At the same time, the centrist Annika Andersson in Vilhelmina left her post and a man took over.

"I think a lot happened"

Malå, Norsjö and Skellefteå have never had a woman as chairman of the municipal board.

Apart from Bjurholm, there is a woman in charge in Nordmaling, Madelaine Jakobsson (C) and in Vännäs, Anna Frej (S).

- There are significantly more women in politics now.

I think it has happened quite a lot in the last 5-10 years, says Christina Lidström (M), chairman of the municipal board and municipal councilor in Bjurholm.

Will we ever see as many women as men in the top positions?

- Yes, I think so.

More and more women are coming in and that makes the base to pick from bigger, says Christina Lidström.
