On Tuesday, Kronoberg's municipalities and representatives from the rescue service, police and authorities gathered in Alvesta during an unusual event.

- It is about how the rescue service should function when there is war.

Among other things, we will find out how the rescue service works in Ukraine, and learn from it.

We will also look back and hear about how heightened preparedness worked in Sweden several years ago, says the county board's deputy defense director Fredrik Nygren.

Doubled staffing

On March 1, the Norwegian Agency for Community Protection and Preparedness (MSB) presented its response to a government assignment on civil defense.

- More people are needed.

It's about the fact that the rescue service basically needs to double its staffing to cope with the challenges that come with the war, says Fredrik Nygren.

At the turn of the year, there were over 400,000 Swedes who were stationed at war, which is an increase of almost 20 percent in six months.

At Värend's rescue service, the majority are deployed as rescue workers, but some of them are deployed within the Armed Forces instead.

In the clip above, the emergency services explain which war scenarios they need to start practicing.
