The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs warned of the dangers of calls by extremist Jewish organizations to carry out large-scale storming of the Al-Aqsa Mosque today, Tuesday and tomorrow, Wednesday.

The Palestinian Foreign Ministry said, "The provocative storming of Al-Aqsa under an extremist Israeli government threatens a massive explosion with unimaginable consequences in the arena of conflict."

The ministry called for urgent international intervention to stop the targeting of Al-Aqsa Mosque, and to hold the Israeli government responsible.

The occupation authorities announced the imposition of a closure on the West Bank and Gaza on the occasion of the Jewish "Purim" holiday, starting from Monday afternoon until dawn next Thursday.

At the same time, the Palestinian Foreign Ministry condemned in the strongest terms the statements of the Israeli Minister of National Security, Itamar Ben Gvir, who called for abandoning what he sees as a security lull from the Israeli side during the month of Ramadan.

The ministry said in a statement that these statements would "ignite more fires in the arena of conflict, especially as they fall within the context of the Judaization of Jerusalem."

The Palestinian Foreign Ministry held the Israeli government headed by Benjamin Netanyahu fully and directly responsible for the occupation’s crimes and continuous violations in Jerusalem, according to the statement.

Ben Gvir's remarks

The Israeli Minister Ben Gvir had demanded the continuation of the demolition of Palestinian homes in Jerusalem during the month of Ramadan.

Israel Radio quoted Ben Gvir as saying, "It is no secret that there is an understanding among our security forces that during the month of Ramadan one should not breathe and the law should not be applied."

"Let's drop this attitude, one should not submit to lawbreakers because of this month," he added.

The Israeli radio described Ben Gvir's instructions to the occupation police as exciting, as it has been practiced for years to avoid carrying out any demolitions during the month of Ramadan - which comes after less than 20 days - in East Jerusalem in order to avoid escalating tension in the region, given the spiritual status of the holy month.

Meanwhile, Al-Jazeera correspondent reported that dozens of settlers stormed the town of Hawara, south of Nablus, under the protection of the occupation army, on Monday evening, indicating that Palestinian youths suffocated from tear gas canisters while trying to confront the settlers.

Eyewitnesses stated that the settlers fired live bullets in the air and threw stones at Palestinian cars on the main road to the town, at a time when the occupation forces fired a barrage of sound and gas bombs at the residents of the town who gathered to repel the intrusion.

Local Palestinian platforms also broadcast a video clip showing the injury of a Palestinian citizen, due to settlers throwing stones at his car while it was passing through one of the streets of the town.
