“The overall goal of this program is to ensure the preservation of outstanding examples of Ukrainian cultural heritage,” the text of the document says.

From the description it follows that the US State Department, among other things, intends to ensure "the protection of objects, objects and collections of cultural heritage objects from theft, damage or causing further damage."

The US department plans to provide from ten to 30 grants for the implementation of the initiative.

The total amount of funding will be $3 million.

At the same time, one of the directions of the program is designated as “Regional Assessment and Rapid Recovery Projects”.

As explained in the document, the applicant needs to identify a geographic area in Ukraine, conduct a risk and damage assessment in the area, prioritize, and implement response and recovery activities.

Last year, former US Deputy Secretary of State James Glassman accused Russia of trying to "erasure Ukrainian culture."

The Russian side, in turn, regularly notified UNESCO about the strikes that the Armed Forces inflict on cultural, historical and religious sites.
