As part of a trip to the NVO zone, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu checked the work on restoring the infrastructure of Donbass, including in Mariupol, the defense ministry said.

“In the city of Mariupol, Donetsk People’s Republic, the head of the Russian military department inspected the readiness of the already commissioned facilities and the progress of work at the sites of buildings and structures under construction,” the ministry said in a statement.

During the visit, the minister was shown a multifunctional medical center built by military builders, a republican rescue center of the Ministry of Emergency Situations and a new microdistrict of 12 five-story residential buildings.

The head of the Ministry of Defense was also informed about the modern complex of the Federal Medical and Biological Agency of Russia under construction in Mariupol, a new residential microdistrict of six nine-story apartment buildings, a school and kindergartens.

In addition, the minister heard a report on the construction of a water pipeline connecting the Rostov region and the DPR.

It is noted that the conduit from the Don River to the Seversky Donets-Donbass canal will provide water to many settlements in the region.

Shelling of Donbass

The representative office of the Donetsk People's Republic at the Joint Center for Control and Coordination of Issues Related to War Crimes of Ukraine (JCCC) announced 18 facts of firing by Ukrainian troops over the past day.

During shelling, the enemy used artillery of 152 and 155 mm caliber, as well as HIMARS multiple launch rocket systems.

In total, the Armed Forces of Ukraine fired 99 units of various ammunition from guns.

Donetsk, Makeevka, Vladimirovka, Volnovakha, Yasinovataya, Gorlovka and other settlements of the republic were under shelling.

According to the DPR, during the day there were reports of a teenager being wounded by an anti-personnel mine “Petal”.

In addition, as a result of shelling, two houses and two civilian infrastructure facilities were damaged.

In turn, the representative office of the Lugansk People's Republic in the JCCC announced one shelling over the past day.

The Armed Forces of Ukraine opened fire from 155 mm artillery at Lisichansk, firing two shells.

As a result of these events, one civilian was killed, seven more people were injured.

Meanwhile, the mayor of the city of Pervomaisk (LPR) Sergei Kolyagin on the evening of March 5 reported that a resident of the city of Zolote-5 in the LPR died on Sunday after blowing himself up on an unidentified object on the former demarcation line.

“Near high-voltage power lines, where repairs are being carried out, a resident of the city of Zolote-5, a man born in 1987, was blown up on an unidentified object.

From the resulting mine-explosive injury, the man died on the spot, ”Kolyagin wrote in his Telegram channel.

Retired Lieutenant Colonel of the People's Militia of the LPR Andrei Marochko, citing his own sources, said that BM-21 Grad shells detonated at the positions of the Ukrainian military near Chasovy Yar in the DPR.

“During combat firing, one of the shells got stuck in the guide, and then detonated.

A chain reaction began, and the remaining missiles began to scatter randomly over Ukrainian positions, ”he wrote on Telegram.

According to Marochko, the installation was completely destroyed as a result of the incident.

Two militants were killed, eight more were injured of varying degrees of severity.

He also spoke about the transfer of additional forces and means of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Kupyansk direction.

According to him, in the direction of the settlement of Svatovo, the movement of small columns of the Armed Forces of Ukraine with Western-style artillery systems, as well as ammunition for them, was noted.

As Marochko noted, the columns are about ten cars each, the movement takes place mainly in the dark.
