In the past ten years, while our economic aggregate has achieved an average annual growth rate of 6.5%, pollutant emissions have continued to decrease significantly.

In terms of pollutant emission reduction, we have reduced sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxide emissions by more than 84% and 58% respectively in the past ten years. The concentration of sulfur dioxide in Beijing is measured in single-digit micrograms.

PM2.5 has declined for nine consecutive years, with a cumulative reduction of 57%, and the proportion of heavily polluted days only accounts for about 1%.

People's satisfaction with the ecological environment exceeds 90% according to the latest survey results.

All these facts show that high-level ecological and environmental protection will not hinder economic development, but will add new momentum to economic development and promote high-quality development.

On the other hand, promoting the modernization of harmonious coexistence between man and nature, achieving high-quality development, and high-level ecological and environmental protection are inherent requirements and due meanings.

  In the field of environmental impact assessment, last year we implemented the decisions and arrangements of the Party Central Committee and the State Council, and ensured the elements of environmental assessment for major projects in the fields of energy and infrastructure.

Last year, the Ministry of Ecology and Environment approved 180 major projects at its own level, involving an investment of 1.9 trillion yuan.

We guided local governments to approve 123,000 projects, involving an investment of 23.3 trillion yuan.

These have contributed to stabilizing the economy and promoting development.

  Our approach is mainly "123", and "1" is to implement a set of policies. We have introduced relevant policies and built an innovative policy system, including the bundled approval of similar projects, the overall planning and linkage of planning EIA and project EIA.
