Another aspect is this status thing, showing off one's nice car.
The status mentality then takes the children with them into school.
Same with nice bikes and scooters.
Walking is great!
You get standing time, exercise and mobile-free time.

I don't have a driver's license and therefore can't drive.
But it means that my children have learned to walk and cycle where we are going.
A bit difficult during a snowstorm, but it has worked with that.
They are used to it and rarely complain

As my children have instrument lessons (cello or French horn).
It is not possible to cycle with both a backpack and an instrument, it is too far to walk and at the same time carry a large instrument (3 km).
If the children had received a bus pass to school, they would have been allowed to take the bus, but you don't get that in our municipality (all school children in the whole country should get that, then you also learn to take public transport).

My eldest, who is now in high school, has always had to go to school by himself.
Walk or bike, the legs work well.
My youngest will start preschool class in the fall and will soon be able to start walking on his own.
There is also something for self-esteem to be able to manage something yourself.
