The first meeting of the 14th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference is about to be held, and the newly added "environmental resources circle" has become the focus of attention of all parties.

This is another major adjustment of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference since the "economic" sector was added in 1993.

A number of CPPCC National Committee members believe that this move is a practical measure to implement Xi Jinping's ecological civilization thought, implement the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, and build a consensus for building a Chinese-style modernization in which man and nature coexist harmoniously.

On January 18, the list of members of the 14th CPPCC National Committee was announced.

Among the 34 sectors of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, the "environmental resources sector" made its debut.

Prior to this, the CPPCC in many places also added new sectors related to environmental resources.

Yu Guodong, a member of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference in the field of environmental resources and director of the Chongqing Municipal Bureau of Ecology and Environment, believes that this sectoral adjustment is due to the development requirements of the party and the state center.

"The report of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China stated that Chinese-style modernization is the modernization of harmonious coexistence between man and nature, emphasizing the need to 'plan development at the height of harmonious coexistence between man and nature'. Based on this background, the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference newly established the environmental resource sector. A positive response to the development requirements of the Party and State Center."

A good ecological environment is the fairest public product and the most inclusive of people's livelihood and well-being.

"The modernization of harmonious coexistence between man and nature is the modernization of the fundamental interests of the Chinese people." Han Minchun, a member of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, said that Chinese-style modernization is truly people-centered, making a good ecology a growth point for the people's better life and becoming a A new driving force for high-quality economic and social development.

A number of members said that the establishment of environmental and resource circles in the CPPCC National Committee and local CPPCC is a concrete measure to promote the Chinese-style modernization construction in which man and nature coexist harmoniously, reflects the wishes and demands of all sectors of society, and also reflects my country's responsibility as a major country.

From the perspective of personnel composition, the backgrounds of the 85 members of the environmental resources sector cover ecological environment, natural resources, ocean, forestry, geology and other fields.

Zhang Ganlin, member of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, believes that this can effectively gather the research results and work experience of experts and scholars in related fields, offer advice and suggestions, and build consensus and strength for the construction of Chinese-style modernization in which man and nature coexist harmoniously.

More than 30% of the members of the environmental resources community are experts and scholars, including academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineering. Their research fields involve marine ecology, lake ecology, and terrestrial ecology.

Jiao Nianzhi, a committee member of the environmental resources industry, said that communicating with experts from different professions in the same field, everyone is running towards the same goal, and conducting "consultations" on complex issues. Interdisciplinary and collaborative research will make science and technology better serve economic development , social progress, and environmental improvement.

There are many leading cadres in the environmental and resource circles from the departments of ecological environment, energy, water conservancy and natural resources.

Wu Ruijun, a member of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, believes that this will bring together national and local environmental and resource talents from an overall perspective, making the performance of duties more concentrated and more powerful, which will be of great help in promoting the realization of the "double carbon" goal, sticking to the red line of 1.8 billion mu of arable land, and ensuring energy security. This strategic task is of great significance.

The new sector injects fresh air into the new CPPCC National Committee, and also gathers strength and contributes wisdom to realize Chinese-style modernization in which man and nature coexist harmoniously.

According to the reporter's understanding, this year's two sessions, the committee members of this sector made suggestions and highly focused on the main business of "environmental resources".

"The committee members must not only 'ask real questions', but also 'find good solutions'." Wu Ruijun said that due to the unbalanced and insufficient development of my country's regions and industries, and the large differences in the construction of basic environmental protection capabilities, the results achieved Not solid.

"It is expected that issues such as green carbon reduction, ecological governance, and energy and resource security will receive attention. I will also give full play to my professional advantages and actively discuss and advise on issues such as dealing with negative population growth."

Yu Guodong mainly focuses on issues such as the construction of "zero-waste cities", the improvement of environmental protection taxes, and the protection of biodiversity.

"I look forward to finding more and better ways to promote the harmonious coexistence between man and nature with many committee members in the field of environmental resources." Yu Guodong said.
