Since Thursday last week, Sami youth have been demonstrating in and outside the various ministries in Norway's government quarters in Oslo.

On Friday, the demonstrations ended with a silent demonstration in front of the castle at Karl Johan in connection with the government meeting the King in cabinet.

At the same time, around 2,000 people gathered at Eidsvolls plass to demonstrate their support for the reindeer herders in Fosen.

In 1979, Sami demonstrated in the same place in the so-called Alta conflict.

- Just because we lift the blockade of the ministries does not mean that the fight is over, said Ella Marie Haetta Isaksen, one of those who have been with since last Thursday.

"Confessing crime"

On Friday morning, Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre also admitted that there is an ongoing violation of human rights at Fosen.

He is said to have told the media after the breakfast meeting with the reindeer herders from Fosen.

At Eidsvolls plass, the speeches replaced each other throughout the morning.

One of the many who gave a speech was the president of the Sámi Parliament, Silje Karine Muotka.

- The power lies with the people, the human rights violation that the government has admitted is ongoing and must stop.

Reindeer farming and wind turbines cannot coexist, said Silje Karine Muotka.

"Being tormented bit by bit"

- You young people show the way.

Rights are for politics to relate to.

The fight will continue until indigenous rights are fully accepted, said Åsa Larsson Blind from the Sami Council.

Many were also touched by reindeer owner Maja Kristine Jåma's words.

She is one of those in the Fovsen Njaarke reindeer herding district affected by the wind farm.

- Don't you see that we are tormented bit by bit, and that we disappear bit by bit, she said in her tearful speech.

Many critical of the government

The demonstrators and the concerned reindeer herders in the Fosen area have received a lot of support during the week.

A lot of criticism has been directed at Oil and Energy Minister Terje Aasland (Ap) and Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre (Ap) regarding the Supreme Court's ruling that the wind farm at Fosen violates human rights.

Arild Hermstad party leader Miljøpartiet de grønne (MDG) was one of several politicians who gave a speech at Eidsvoll plass.

- It is embarrassing to be Norwegian now, he said.
