The requirements to get a public position in the Catalan health have once again caused the administration to show its most controlling side with the imposition of the language that is practical on the need to have professionals.

The video of a nurse from the Vall d'Hebron hospital in Barcelona, Begoña S., who openly lamented that "to get the fucking oppositions out we have to have the fucking C-1 of Catalan" generated a forceful response from those responsible for the Department of Health of the Generalitat.

Specifically, the nurse shared the recording on the social network, in which she appears together with two other health workers, in which she assured that the specifications to access the summoned oppositions require the basic certificate of knowledge of the Catalan language, as in all public function contests called by the Generalitat.

"To get the fucking opposition we have to have the fucking C-1 in Catalan. Well, it turns out that my mother is going to get the C-1 level in Catalan because I'm not going to get the C-1 in Catalan," says the nurse, originally from Cádiz, along with two other health workers in the video that has had 700,000 views on Tik Tok and two million on Twitter.

Given the numerous threats that the nurse received on social networks and the commotion caused, she decided to withdraw the video.

Sources from the Vall de Hebron indicate that the nurse has a temporary contract for the winter campaign related to respiratory diseases and that she will run out shortly.

On the viral controversy, the Minister of Health, Manel Balcells, announced the opening of a file for this video: "Statements like these are intolerable in a public servant. From the center to the department we will get to the bottom of the matter. We open a file The health system must guarantee care in Catalonia's own language, we work on this every day".

In addition, he assured that "Vall d'Hebron will investigate the nurse who has been recorded in the hospital criticizing the request for the C-1 level of Catalan in the competitive examinations" and added that "an example of good practice by our professionals are those who come wherever they come from they are interested and they are trained to learn, know and speak Catalan. These are the majority and we want to value them".

"The health system offers free training in Catalan for its professionals, because the ultimate goal is always the well-being of the citizen and guaranteeing the rights of patients. Understanding the patient is key to their safety," says Balcells.

The nurses appear in the video in their hospital uniform and Begoña S. explains that she is from Cádiz and her colleagues from Granada and San Sebastián.

She assures that the health center has encouraged them to present themselves to the oppositions to obtain a permanent position.

While the nurse from Cádiz, who is on leave from work after what happened, expresses her refusal to learn Catalan, the nurse from San Sebastián affirms that she has already signed up to learn the basic level of Catalan and pronounces some sentences in correct Catalan.

On the other hand, the Official College of Nurses of Barcelona (COIB) considered the video "unacceptable" and recalled that the Catalan standard "requires that health professionals know the official languages of the place where they work".

Therefore, they indicated that the health center must guarantee "the right" of patients to use their language.

In statements to this medium, the spokesman for Impulso Ciudadano, José Domingo, assured that "the language requirement to access the public service is an insurmountable and discriminatory barrier for many Spaniards. Good public employees cannot participate in oppositions due to the excessive linguistic demands Their professional careers are limited and they legitimately exercise their right to protest. The nurse has criticized the requirement, not the Catalan one. The nationalists manipulate again. Many of them welcome the saying "whore Spain" on TV3".
