Suspected knifeman previously convicted of robbery and assault

The man has been convicted of a number of crimes.

In 2015, he robbed a watch store.

He took out an automatic rifle-like object and threatened to take watches with a value of SEK 2 million.

He was sentenced to three years in prison for aggravated robbery.

While serving his sentence in prison, he abused another inmate.

According to the verdict, the man launched an unprovoked attack on his fellow prisoner.

Mental illness

In statements from the correctional service, it has been established that the man suffered from both substance abuse problems and mental illness.

As recently as November 2022, the man was convicted of stealing goods from an electronics store.

The district court wrote in the judgment that the penalty value of the crime corresponded to a short prison sentence, but also believed that the man's personal and social situation had significantly improved.

The probation service suggested that the man be sentenced to probation and the district court followed the same line.

Now he is arrested on suspicion of attempted murder of a 10-year-old girl.
