Today there are three wind turbines in the area and the energy company SR Enerys has planned to build three more, a good bit higher than the ones that already exist.

During the work, several businesses have had to submit their views on the wind farm, including Örebro airport, the Swedish Armed Forces and the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency.

Yes from Hallsberg

The municipality of Hallsberg, within which the wind turbines would be built, is positive about the construction plans.

Askersund, on the other hand, was critical of the location, among other things because of the possible impact on the Dovra lakes nature reserve.

Other concerns highlighted in opinions were the impact on air traffic, noise in the immediate area and the impact on animals and nature.

Bats put a stop

In the end, it was the bats in the area that were decisive in the outcome.

The County Administrative Board's Environmental Assessment Delegation, which is the one that reviewed the plan, states that it does not meet the requirements for suitable placement in accordance with the Environmental Code.

In the area, there are several bat species that are at high risk of being affected by the works, as well as several species that are red-listed.

This, in combination with the impact on air traffic, noise and shadowing, means that the County Administrative Board rejects the application.
