Christoffer Bohman, head of investigations at the police in Sörmland, has recently resigned and written a debate article in Aftonbladet.

There he states that the police cannot stop serious crime and argues that more authorities must invest in crime prevention work.

He now has the support of Mattias Forssten, head of the Sörmland Police District, who believes that society must have an increased ability to stop new recruitment into gangs.

- When we lock up a number of individuals, young guys should not stand in line to fill the places that are left, he says.

Prevent early

Forssten believes that increasingly younger people engage in crime and handle firearms.

According to him, prevention must be introduced early, perhaps already in preschool.

- Based on the way society looks, we have to take this into account very early on.
