He says that they have received around 30 calls from worried callers.

In the end, they themselves went out with a message on their website to reassure residents.

The police colleagues in other regions did the same.

The police in Örebro reported that they received several calls during Wednesday evening "about mysterious aircraft".

They determined that the planets Venus and Jupiter were in conjunction, which is the correct term for the phenomenon when two celestial bodies appear to be close to each other as they line up in the line of sight.

"The police will not take any further investigative measures regarding the celestial activity," the police write on their website.

The light phenomenon was seen in the sky in several places around Sweden, including in Säter.

"Once a year"

Jan Lidén has his own theory about why so many people have heard about the light phenomenon.

- I think it may have something to do with the unrest in Europe and that more people are therefore observant.

Eric Stempels, who is a researcher in physics and astronomy at Uppsala University, says that the phenomenon is not entirely unusual.

- It happens once a year that planets are close to each other, but in this particular case they may be closer than usual.

But the phenomenon is completely natural and completely harmless, he says.

You could also see the phenomenon in the sky in Örebro.

Seen as signs

Eric Stempels believes that there are several reasons why so many reacted this time.

- People are not used to looking at the sky anymore and when someone sees this and shares it on social media, it leads to many more people looking up.

But if you were out every evening and were "one with the sky", as you were a long time ago, you would know that it happens quite regularly.

And conjunctions of this type were then seen as signs that something big was about to happen.

- It is something that has impressed people for a very long time, says Eric Stempels.
