The IAEA = International Atomic Energy Agency has compiled a report that highly enriched uranium with an enrichment of about 84% was found at Iran's nuclear facilities.

The Iranian side has said that "unintended enrichment may have occurred", but the IAEA is confirming the situation as it is said that uranium enrichment of 90% or more can be diverted to nuclear weapons.

The IAEA presented its member states with a report on Iran's nuclear development on the 28th of last month.



According to this, a sample taken at a nuclear facility in Fordu, central Iran, in January this year contained uranium with an enrichment of 83.7%.



Iran claims that its nuclear development is for peaceful use, but uranium enrichment of 90% or more is considered to be diversionable to nuclear weapons.



The Iranian side has explained that "unintended enrichment may have occurred," but the IAEA has said that it is "discussing with the Iranian side" and is proceeding with confirmation of the situation.
