An excerpt from the interview is as follows:

Chinanews reporter: The outside world may have some established impressions of you, such as "a strong business woman" and "Stanley Ho's daughter". How do you respond to such labels?

He Chaoqiong:

First, this is also a fact.

If people can regard me as a role model in my family, and my dad has always nurtured me, of course I will be very happy and proud, so of course I have no objections.

But of course now, I also think that I should hope to have a role that I can play personally.

And I think I can also make some contributions to the country and society from another aspect.

So in the future, I hope to bring you a clearer understanding of my own image, and I hope they will agree that my different backgrounds and some of my experiences can also bring about a new form.

Macau will develop into a world center of tourism and leisure in the future. We have made a solemn promise that we will not rely on a single gaming industry.

In the future, I hope that there may be more impressions on me that Chaoqiong has created a new form of tourist destination and has become a participant and creator of Macao's culture, art and cultural tourism. I will work harder in this regard. .

Reporter from Chinanews.com: You started your own business for a while after graduating from university. Now looking back at this experience, what experience has it given you?

He Chaoqiong:

I think I made the smartest decision at that time, that is, I did not enter the family business after graduating from university.

Because I know that I can enter my family's business at any time, and I am prepared to start from a low level from the beginning, but I hope to have a broader vision, to see the world, to learn from different industries .

My mentality is that even if my family is doing a certain kind of business, the world may change in the future and the country will continue to improve, so we must have various skills and knowledge.

If it was my family's business as soon as I entered, maybe I would only know how to do one thing forever. I hope that I will hone and prepare to meet new opportunities in the future. At that time, I can also make some contributions around new things. At that time The decision has now proved to be correct, just look at Macau.

Hasn't Macau just changed?

It must bring some new things and new industries.

The work I did when I was starting a business just happens to be coming in handy now.

Similarly, Hong Kong is also taking a new position. Although it is inseparable from finance, shipping, and trade, which are also very important for its competitiveness, Hong Kong has also reached a new node. In the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, it will play a role It is another function and role.

People must always stand in a variable and changeable (position), and they can always go to the forefront to make your new attempts.

But doing new attempts also requires certain coping skills. I think my entrepreneurship at that time gave me this kind of exercise.

Chinanews.com reporter: Decades have passed and times have changed. Now, what is your message to young Chinese people who are preparing to start a business or are starting a business?

He Chaoqiong:

I think many people have misunderstood that entrepreneurship means constantly trying new things, and constantly using new thinking and new abilities to meet all kinds of new things, but this does not mean that you will never be able to accomplish one thing yourself. There is a difference when you have already started another project.

My (understood) entrepreneurship is that I want to stick to it for ten years. What I have already done, I want to make it better, make it better, and meet new waves.

Then, to find new solutions from this new wave, we still need to make breakthroughs. This is the entrepreneurial spirit.

It’s not that I heard from my friend today that I want to do AI now, so I’ll do AI, and when I hear about the other one, I’ll stop doing it and do another one, so you’ll never be able to start a business.

You just keep trying forever, but you don't have a scale, you don't have a bottom.

So at the end of our business, we have to find out which aspect we are most able to do, and then build a foundation around this aspect, and then we will lay more and newer layers on it, which will gradually highlight you. Unique so-called real ability.

In fact, what is entrepreneurship in the end, what you want to create is of higher value than others, so that you can succeed in entrepreneurship.

Chinanews.com reporter: Now that Hong Kong and the Mainland have fully "cleared customs", and Hong Kong has also been fully opened to overseas, how should we tell the story of Hong Kong to the world?

He Chaoqiong:

Hong Kong is not only an international city, but the people in Hong Kong are very humane.

After working in many groups and organizations in Hong Kong for so many years, why do I still have such a big wish to serve the society?

It is because I feel this kind of human touch.

I think Hong Kong people must reunite and tell the story of Hong Kong together.

After our return, we will rely on our motherland, which is our biggest and strongest backing.

We are very confident that Hong Kong has more new opportunities than any other place.

I would like to be able to say that Hong Kong people, in fact, we have always been very good, and we also cherish these hard-won opportunities given by the country.

Chinanews.com reporter: In the first few weeks of comprehensive "customs clearance", the flow of people has not returned to the pre-epidemic level. How to evaluate the pace of recovery of tourism in Hong Kong and Macau?

He Chaoqiong:

We have seen that Macau has a very good trend during the Spring Festival. It turns out that after the Spring Festival, it is usually the so-called off-season, but now we see that it is still gradually gaining its support. It has recovered to about 70% before the epidemic. our expectations.

Due to the long-term barrier of "customs clearance" between Hong Kong and the mainland and overseas, tourism is still a bit lagging behind.

I think from the perspective of March, especially our Art Basel will be a very big international event, and now the exhibition and ticket sales are good, so I don’t worry, I think it’s just that the time will be delayed a little bit.

After three years of the epidemic, many large-scale new projects have been launched in Hong Kong, and all aspects of the process have been implemented as scheduled.

I am very confident that tourism and international exchanges in Hong Kong will resume.

Reporter from Chinanews.com: In March this year, you participated in the National Two Sessions for the first time. What hot topics will you pay attention to?

What kind of proposal will be put forward?

He Chaoqiong:

I am very excited to be appointed as a member of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference in Hong Kong this time.

On the one hand, I feel that this is a great honor for me, and on the other hand, I also feel that this is an appointment with a long way to go.

I think we should learn with an open mind, put in the best effort to prepare well, and then focus on the study with the most radiant spirit, and hope to be able to participate in the whole process in the best state.

This time around different topics, the Greater Bay Area was selected as one of the main discussions.

Both my career and social work involve Hong Kong and Macau, and now I have gradually carried out a part in other cities in the Greater Bay Area, including my investment and contacts, so I have a certain degree of understanding of the Greater Bay Area, and I can also Cooperate with many policies given by the state.

In the future development of the Greater Bay Area, attention should be paid to how to bring out the advantages of the two special zones of Hong Kong and Macau to create the best interconnection effect.

According to my own social participation in Hong Kong, I also pay attention to the issues of women and children, as well as the future economic development of Hong Kong.

Chinanews.com reporter: You once said that "loving the country, Hong Kong and Macao is my original intention". What are your views and suggestions on cultivating Hong Kong youth's national identity and patriotism and love for Hong Kong?

He Chaoqiong:

Yes, my long-term work focuses on how to make young people understand the actual situation of our country more accurately, hoping to enhance their sense of belonging. We will continue to do this work.

Now serving as a member of the Hong Kong National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, I think it can enrich myself and get more information, and then bring these back to Hong Kong, hoping to positively bring young people and the next generation to the direction of loving the country, Hong Kong and Macao , to lay this good foundation for them.

Compared with 2019, Hong Kong can be said to be stable now, and we have seen a good trend.

I think this is an important opportunity and node. We need to make more efforts to consolidate the stable mentality of Hong Kong youth in many ways. It can be said that we have already taken a very good first step, but I think we need to continue Work hard, and in the future we will also pay attention to their own development. When they encounter some difficulties, we need to provide them with better support.

In the long run, it should be a way for young people to participate in the development of Hong Kong. In this whole, everyone can feel that they have a share. Therefore, the future economic development of Hong Kong and the repositioning of Hong Kong are actually not only It's just a policy, it should be better preached, and even some methods should be designed to allow them to come in.

For example, the Hong Kong Women's Association has created a plan called "Half the Sky" in the past ten years, taking them to the inland cities of the Greater Bay Area to experience and experience for a week or two, and arrange visits to different large enterprises, especially high-tech, You can also exchange and discuss with mainland students and entrepreneurs you meet.

Last time we hosted 200 young women. After going there, they changed their minds. They are determined to stay in Hong Kong and find their own dreams and careers in the Greater Bay Area. This has strengthened their sense of belonging and national identity.

If there are bigger steps in the future, we can further increase the scale and depth.
