Asked about the possibility that Biden might not seek re-election, Jill Biden reportedly said, "Not in my opinion."
She said, "This is Biden's decision, and we support whatever he wants to do. If he participates, we support it. If he wants to do something else, we support him."
Jill Biden also said that due to her husband's busy schedule, she has not yet officially announced her plans for re-election.
"He's said he intends to run, but he doesn't have any plans yet. I think he's been preoccupied with Ukraine, dealing with some domestic crises."
Regarding the question of Biden's age, Jill Biden believes that Biden's trip to Ukraine shows that he still has the energy to campaign.
She said, "How many of those 30-year-olds can go to Poland, take a train? Take nine hours, go to Ukraine, meet Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky?"
Not long ago, in an exclusive interview with the Associated Press, Jill Biden gave the "clearest answer" up to that time on whether Biden would run for a second term.
She said there was "almost" nothing left to do other than determine when and where the announcement would be made.
The US "Capitol Hill" pointed out that Biden is expected to make a formal decision in the next few months.
During the State of the Union address, Biden said several times that he wanted to "get the job done."
According to Reuters, Biden said in November 2022 that he would decide whether to run again in early 2023, but an announcement is currently not expected until sometime in the spring.
Polls show some Americans are concerned about Biden's age.
Some 71% of respondents, including 52% of Democrats, said Biden should not run for re-election in 2024.
At present, the 80-year-old Biden is the oldest serving president in American history.
If re-elected, Biden will be 86 years old at the end of his second term.
Democratic strategist Bud Jackson (Bud Jackson) also said that the question of whether Biden should run again is a topic of constant debate within the Democratic Party.
"Almost everyone I talk to is concerned about his age," but "almost everyone I talk to thinks he should keep running."
