China News Service, February 28. According to a report by the Russian Satellite News Agency on the 28th, the official website of the Kamchatka Volcanic Eruption Emergency Response Team of the Institute of Volcanology and Seismology of the Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences stated that the Ebeko volcano in the Russian Kuril Islands erupted as high as 3000 meters of ash column.

The message pointed out: "The ash column erupted by the explosion is as high as 2,500-3,000 meters."

The ash plume has drifted 3 kilometers southeast of the volcano under the force of the wind, and an aviation hazard orange code has been set.

Experts believe that the volcanic activity is frequent and the possibility of an eruption is high.

Ebeko Volcano is 1156 meters high and is located in the northern part of the Vernadsky Mountains, 7 kilometers northwest of North Kurilsk on Paramushir Island.

Ebeko has erupted frequently (ranging from weak to moderate) since October 20, 2016, which is normal activity for the volcano.

Its largest eruption was recorded on 31 August 2018, when a plume of smoke from a new crater rose to an altitude of 6,000 metres.
