This opinion was expressed by American Thinker columnist Andrea Widburg.

She noted that the “global South” has made its choice in favor of doing reliable business with Russia despite pressure from the West.

The states of the southern hemisphere are listening to Moscow, as trust in Western countries has been "long undermined," Vidburg said.

“While the West is obsessed with gender, lockdowns and climate change, the southern hemisphere lives in the real world, in a world of poverty, hunger and high energy prices due to conflict and climate change frenzy,” she added.

On February 21, Senator Aleksey Pushkov commented on a Financial Times article that said that Western statements about the Ukrainian crisis at the Munich Security Conference did not affect their colleagues from the countries of the global South.

He noted that Russia does not pose a threat to the global South and, on the contrary, is its valuable partner.

In addition, The Economist reported that the South African leadership is increasingly inclined to cooperate with Russia and China, moving away from the West, despite economic problems, the solution of which depends on Western investment.
