Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Mao Ning hosted a regular press conference on February 27.

A reporter asked: According to reports, on February 24, the United States sanctioned Chinese companies on the grounds of Russia-related factors.

What is China's comment?

Mao Ning: The U.S. action has no basis in international law, nor is it authorized by the Security Council. It is a typical illegal unilateral sanction and "long-arm jurisdiction" that seriously damages China's interests. China is strongly dissatisfied and firmly opposed to this, and has lodged stern representations with the U.S. side.

China adheres to an objective and fair stance on the Ukraine issue, and is actively committed to promoting peace talks and promoting a political settlement.

However, the United States has continued to pass fire and swords. So far, it has provided Ukraine with more than 32 billion U.S. dollars in military aid, including a large number of advanced weapons and equipment.

Just a few days ago, the US announced that it would provide Ukraine with a new round of military aid worth US$2 billion.

While the United States has intensified its efforts to send weapons to one of the conflicting parties, resulting in endless wars and no end in sight for peace, it has frequently spread false information about China's supply of weapons to Russia, taking the opportunity to sanction Chinese companies for no reason.

This is blatant bullying and double standards, which is very hypocritical.

I would like to point out that on the first anniversary of the escalation of the Ukrainian crisis, China issued a position paper on a political solution to the Ukrainian crisis, while the U.S. issued sanctions against companies from China and other countries.

It is clear at a glance who is promoting peace and promoting talks to cool down the situation, and who is adding fuel to the fire and fearing that the world will not be chaotic.

We urge the US to reflect on itself, proceed from the common interests of all countries in the world, do things to ease the situation, promote peace talks, and at the same time stop spreading false information and lift sanctions on Chinese companies.

China will continue to take necessary measures to firmly safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese companies.

In response to the wrongful actions of the US in sanctioning Chinese companies, we will resolutely counter it.
